I was chatting with someone in The Philippines and noticed she lived in a Provincial area called Esperanza. We didn't talk again after that fleeting conversation, but the name Esperanza really stuck in my mind. I later discovered that it's the Spanish word for hope and so I wrote this song, quoting one of my favourite verses John 8:36
